Bottom Wash Permit Training
DEP Response Room - AMHI Campus - Augusta - We are pleased to be partnering once again with the Maine Dept. of Environmental Protection to bring you a special training event focused on the new Antifouling Contaminated Vessel Wash Water Discharge Permit (the bottom wash permit). This permit has been in the works for a long time and has made it through all the required review and public comment procedures. Now it is time to get the word out about how it will affect you and your boatyard and customers.

We know that many of you are concerned about how you will be able to pay for the costs associated with compliance. We will spend some time at this training discussing the possibility of public funding. A key component for public funding will be the ability of recipients to provide a public benefit - think pump out grant program. Please come with your ideas about how we can meet this requirement - it will help make the case for a new grant program.

In addition to discussion of the bottom wash permit we will be joined by staff from DEP's Stormwater Permit Program for updates on the new stormwater permit that will take effect in 2010.

There will be lots of information shared and time for Q & A - and we know there will be lots of questions. Because we anticipate heavy turnout for this event PLEASE get your registrations in right away!
