Kittery Marina Recognized for High Environmental Standards
Portland, ME - Kittery Point Yacht Yard has been recognized as the Maine Clean Boatyards & Marinas Program’s most recently designated Clean Marina. In a brief ceremony that included the Yard’s management and staff, municipal officials and a State Senator Kittery Point was recognized for their high level of commitment to maintaining a clean, environmentally compliant facility.

In order to qualify as a Maine Clean Boatyard & Marina Kittery Point Yacht Yard had to demonstrate a high level of compliance in each of the five program areas. To qualify a minimum score of 80% must be reached in each of the five areas. This goal was exceeded by Kittery Point with at least 90% achieved in each program area.

Participation in the Maine Clean Boatyards & Marinas Program is voluntary, with participating companies signing a pledge, completing a self-assessment and then inviting a verification team to inspect the facility. In accepting the award Tom Allen, President of Kittery Point thanked his crew for their dedication and work and noted that the program has helped everyone at the facility be mindful of their obligations to a clean working and boating environment. In congratulating Allen and the KPYY team Sen. Peter Bowman of Kittery noted that “this award is an outward manifestation of Kittery Point Yacht Yard’s high level of professionalism”.

The Maine Clean Boatyards & Marinas Program is sponsored by the Maine Marine Trade Association with funding from the Maine Coastal Program at the State Planning Office. For more information about the Program please visit www.mainemarinetrades.com and click on the “Clean Marinas” logo.
