ABOUT MMTA'S OWNER OPERATOR COLLEGE
A number of years ago the Maine Marine Trades Association (MMTA) saw the need for employee training as a key to meeting a vital segment of its “Mission Statement.” That statement said in part “ promote growth, prosperity, and cooperation within the marine industry in Maine; …encourage and publicize educational opportunities leading to and furthering careers in the marine trades; and … encourage and assist in the development of best practices in the marine industry with a focus on the environment, and health and safety.” Working with funding provided by the U.S. Department of Labor and Maine’s North Star Alliance Initiative, MMTA has created the Marine Industry Owner Operator College (OOC).
