Marine Debris Coalition Asking Boaters To Help Prevent Marine Debris and Derelict Fishing Gear
This project, Reducing Derelict Fishing Gear in the Gulf of Maine: Educating and Empowering Boaters to be a Part of the Solution, is produced by a partnership with Maine Sea Grant, Maine Marine Trades Association and consulting partners including Maine Coast Fishermen’s Association, Maine Island Trail Association, and the Maine Coastal Program. The coalition has designed educational materials aimed at boaters to help them prevent marine debris.

Maine Sea Grant College Program, University of Maine researchers and partners throughout the state will receive funding for three projects that address the prevention and removal of marine debris in the Gulf of Maine.
